Time for my bathroom update post! Super exciting, I know. I
actually made these changes last June and am finally getting around to writing
this post. Whoops!
I was never a fan of our original bathroom shower curtain & rugs. In my defense, we bought them in a hurry during a last minute shopping trip to Target the day after we moved in to our duplex. We were exhausted, and it was more out of necessity than style. The bathroom was the one room I hadn't given much thought to prior to our move (that’s right, my Pinterest bathroom board was not yet in existence!). For some reason, bright green and gold sounded like a good idea that fateful day...*sigh* Prior to our much-needed makeover, this is what we were dealing with.

Not very pretty! One morning while Tony was out surfing, I decided to take matters into my own
hands. My original plan was to do all white-on-white. White rugs, white towels,
white shower curtains...ya know, white. I LOVE all-white bathrooms. They just
look so crisp & clean. Plus, our cabinets, countertop and floors are all crazy
shades I would never choose, so I was hoping all the white would help
counteract the outdated parts of the bathroom. I headed to Target and Pier 1 to
get the job done. I scored at Target with some new white towels, an AWESOME
memory foam white bath mat (it feels SO good on my feet!), white & bamboo
soap dispenser and toothbrush holder (can't find them online, sorry!), and a wicker waste basket. But I decided
to deviate from the "all white" plan when I saw this shower curtain. I fell in love with the
geometric design and the color.
I didn't think about
it at the time, but later realized I ended up trading one green shower curtain for another. Funny how those
things happen. I also found some wicker storage baskets and these super cute succulent plants at Pier
1.
These plants are, of course, totally fake. I’m not
usually a fan of fake plants, but I love succulents and these were just so
perfect. Plus, I’m a known plant-killer.
And now, the “after” pictures!!
I know the change is nothing too drastic, but living in a rental limits what we can do. Even so, I still love being greeted by the new bathroom every morning! Anyone else do any bathroom face-lifts recently?
Very cute! I like that shower curtain - it's perfect with your plants!
ReplyDeleteIsn’t That Charming.
Thanks, Emily!! Glad you like it. :)
Deletegreat job! it's hard decorating in a rental! I've always just said to heck with the bathroom in our rentals and just hung up a shower curtain liner! LOL... but I'm excited to buy a new shower curtain for our new house (hopefully)! I had a really cool white shabby chic one from target at my house in alabama that was fabric, i tied ribbons at the top instead of using the plastic rings... but had to use the plastic rings on the liner.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brooke! I agree, it can be hard to make things look pretty in a rental. If we owned that place I'd have so much fun picking paint colors and painting all the trim white. Your shower curtain with ribbons sounds super cute. :)
DeleteLove the new bathroom!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Not exactly new anymore. :) Can't wait to have a house and paint and put in a better sink and all that fun stuff.
Deletethat shower curtain rocks! love the pattern. i always think of something like that for a one-wall in a bedroom or something. too fun!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I think stenciling a pattern onto an accent wall looks so cool. Or even wallpaper. :) I'd probably never have the patience to do either though, haha.
ReplyDeleteLove the shower curtain. I'm a sucker for kelly green and geometric prints *swoon*
ReplyDeleteOh man, me too!! :) Thanks for checking out my blog!
DeleteWhat a difference! Love it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Dani! For some reason I'm just now seeing it. Glad you like it!
DeleteYep, the new green is certainly better! And I agree with you that a white bathroom gives off the desired clean and hygienic impression. It’s just sad that you can’t make your white bathroom plans into full effect since you’re only renting. I do hope that you can achieve this in the future!
