Two posts in one day, this is insanity!! I'm just super excited about a new project idea I just came up with and wanted to share it. As you probably know by now, I'm a bit obsessed with John & Sherry and their blog Young House Love. (I even got to meet them!!) It is what made me start my own blog, after all.
What I'm not in love with is the price tag on these puppies. $169 for the first one, and $221 for the second. I have no clue why mirrors are so expensive! You also probably know by now that I'm a cheapskate and love a bargain. So I turned to ebay, of course. And lucky me, I found this mirror for $19.99.
It's nothing special...yet. But I think it would be pretty easy to transform this mirror into the first mirror above! I'm thinking about gluing small pieces of wood directly to the metal part. Or maybe something besides wood? Any ideas from you crafty folks out there?? I'll take all the advice I can get!
I probably won't tackle this project until summer, but I'll be sure and post about it once I'm finished!
i found their blog long long time ago as well! they are so fantastic and creative!
ReplyDeletei love the blue they have on their walls! i just came across joss & main a few weeks back. they had this $800 bed that i was DYING to have, but hubby said if we got that we couldnt do the nursery. lol. priorities. dumb!
i hate that mirrors are so spendy too!
I love their blue walls too! I may use that color for the playroom/guest room. It's so bold and not something I'd normally choose. But I love it!
DeleteI am going to have to check out their website!! I love those mirrors! I can't wait to see what you do with the one you bought.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kenzie! Their website is awesome, it's like everything you ever want to know about updating your house.
DeleteOkay, so I'm going to link to a project that I've been thinking about doing, and if you don't like it, don't tell me 'cuz I'm seriously considering it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this mirror:

I Keep thinking about all the places that this would look fabulous in my home, and then argue with myself over what color I should paint it. Still, so darn cute. Sarah Tucker (from that blog) has a few DIY stuff and her house looks totally professional.
Oooh I love that project!! You should totally do it. I'll have to check out her blog. :)
DeleteI can't wait to see what you do with your mirror! I wish I could offer suggestions, but you know me, I would just tell you to glue Swarovski crystals all over it. Or paint it pink. Or both.
ReplyDeleteToo bad for me, I got home and told Tony my idea and he said he doesn't like round mirrors!! Only square or rectangle. WTF.
DeleteI couldn't believe the price of mirrors last time I was in the market for one. Good on you for going the DIY route! x
ReplyDeleteI know, they are so expensive for no reason!! Thanks for the comment!
DeleteI can't wait to see what you do.. so that I can copy it ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha I can't wait either!! I have a few ideas. :)
DeleteGood job!! My mirror hunt was crazy!!
ReplyDeleteI remember! Haha you had a tough time. Right after I ordered this I saw a round one at Marshall's for only $39! I should have just bought it.
DeleteThis serves as a good and motivational example.
